Differences between UV curing machine and IR drying tunnel
In modern industrial production, the properties of materials determine the quality and service life of products. Both the UV curing machine and the infrared drying channel can endow materials with excellent properties through different technical principles, playing an irreplaceable role in the industrial coating field and having a profound impact on various aspects of our lives. However, there are differences between the curing machine and the infrared drying channel in terms of principles, structures, application scenarios, and effects.
- Differences in Working Principles
UV Curing Machine: It triggers a chemical reaction of the components in the material by providing specific conditions, transforming the material from a liquid or flowable state into a solid state. For example, a UV curing machine uses ultraviolet light to generate free radicals from the photoinitiator in the photosensitive material, triggering a polymerization reaction to achieve curing; a thermal curing machine achieves the purpose of curing by heating to make the curing agent in the material react with components such as resin through cross-linking reactions.
Infrared Drying Channel: It mainly utilizes the thermal effect of infrared rays, enabling the object to absorb the energy of infrared rays and convert it into heat energy, thereby volatilizing the moisture or solvent in the object to achieve the drying effect. Generally, it does not involve chemical changes of the material, but only changes in its physical state.
- Differences in Structures
UV Curing Machine: It usually includes a system that can emit specific energy, such as the ultraviolet irradiation system of a UV curing machine and the heating system of a thermal curing machine. There is also a transmission system for conveying materials, as well as a control system to precisely control the curing parameters.


Infrared Drying Channel: It is mainly composed of an infrared heating device, a conveying device, and a temperature control system. The infrared heating device contains multiple infrared heating elements, which are distributed inside the channel to provide uniform heat; the conveying device is mostly a conveyor belt or a roller table for transporting the items to be dried; the temperature control system is responsible for monitoring and adjusting the temperature inside the channel.

UV Curing Machine: It is widely used in fields where chemical curing reactions of materials are required, such as the encapsulation of electronic components in the electronics industry, the coating protection of circuit boards, the curing and film formation of coatings in the coating industry, the curing of printing inks in the printing industry, and the curing and molding of resin matrices and fiber-reinforced materials in composite material manufacturing.
Infrared Drying Channel: It is often used in situations where the rapid drying of moisture or solvents on the surface of objects is required, such as the drying treatment in industries like food, pharmaceuticals, and wood processing, as well as the pre-treatment steps for coating drying in the coating production line, or the drying of items that are sensitive to temperature but need to have their moisture removed.
- Differences in Effects
UV Curing Machine: It causes chemical changes in the material to form a cured product with specific properties, such as good mechanical strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and insulation, which can significantly change the properties and uses of the material.
Infrared Drying Channel: Its main function is to remove moisture or solvents, making the object reach a dry state. It has a relatively small impact on changing the chemical properties of the object, mainly improving the physical state of the object, such as enhancing the stability of the object, making it convenient for subsequent processing or storage, etc.
